When I started Wit & Delight at twenty-four, the world as we know it today was very different. For some context, the iPhone had just come out, the economy was in freefall, Obama had just been elected president, and I was broke, insecure, and scared. Despite the difficulty of this time, I was incredibly optimistic about the future and excited to share everything I had inside with the world.
Spirit & Delight was The place where I grew up. I wrote about what scared me, thrilled me, inspired me, and made me feel at home. This website has supported me as I fell apart, got married, blew up my life, sent myself to therapy, struggled with mental health issues, that I’ve delivered babies, created product lines, and worked with the best brands and people one could hope for.
A season of change
It’s hard to imagine ending something that was ultimately about creating things for a community of people who share a common thread: beauty and the joy of being alive. You are my people, and I loved this moment with you.
I felt the subtle call to step away from publishing for a while. It terrifies me if I’m sincere. I’m not sure what I’ll do next. I realize that it is normal not to understand everything. So I’m taking a leap similar to the one I made when I published my first blog post, stepping optimistically into the unknown.
While I will continue to pop up on social media and share essays and project updates on Call homerunning Wit & Delight full time is something I know I need to get away from.
In short, you will always see me, just a little less often.
The team that built Wit & Delight
Because I’ve decided to stop posting full-time content, that means the team that creates all the amazing content for Wit & Delight will also be moving on. I am devastated to lose the people who dedicated so much of their time, creativity and passion to making this space what it is today.
Simply put, Wit & Delight wouldn’t be the same without the team that built it. I would not have been able to continue producing the amount of content we have with the quality we are committed to without this team. Period. My gratitude and appreciation for those who believed in the brand, me, and the value of what we do cannot be fully expressed. As I step away from managing this brand full-time, my team is ready to move on to great things.
If you’re looking for rockstar people who know editorial strategy, content creation, or project management, I’d love for you to get in touch with my team members. They know this business better than anyone. I can’t wait to see them move on to much bigger and better things soon.
Bridgette has been with me for eight years as brand director. She does everything and makes it look easy (spoiler, it wasn’t). There is not a project or a problem that she could not solve, and I am lucky to have been able to work alongside her. I wouldn’t be here to write this article without her brilliant mind and ability to chart clear, actionable pathways out of my creative chaos and often half-baked ideas. She is well versed in influencer marketing. You can reach her by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Jackie has been with me for four years as Editorial Director. I am grateful to him for his unwavering guidance, intuition, and detailed approach to editing. His editorial strategy and gift for storytelling are integrated into everything we publish on Wit & Delight. I’m a better writer and storyteller working alongside him. Learn more about Jackie’s expertise and background website. You can reach her by email at email@example.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Greta has been managing our social media accounts for three years. She has her finger on the pulse of real-time changes in social media. She has been our Swiss army knife for balancing the art of creativity and strategy around all of our social content. Not only has it been a sounding board for navigating a changing landscape, but it’s also as reliable as it gets. Greta hopes to find another position in the social media space as a social media manager or social media strategist. She is available for remote work in the United States and Canada, or for in-person work in Toronto, Ontario. You can reach her by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Nancy has been my executive assistant for three years. She was the glue that held me together and an incredible coach. She has an intuitive sense of knowing what needs to be done before we realize it. It’s often the things we don’t see that have the most impact, and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to learn invaluable lessons working with her. As Nancy steps away from her role at W&D, her goal is to grow her life coaching business with other individual clients, as well as team and small business coaching. She has already done interior design consulting and styling and hopes to continue as a personal assistant as an entrepreneur. You can reach her by email at email@example.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Carolyn has been our designer for three years. While also working for other brands and clients, she managed the graphic design needs of Wit & Delight, adding her own touch and creativity to our branded content, graphic themes and social appearance. I can always count on Carolyn to add value to our creative ideas. She is a quick study and adapted to all the design challenges we faced. You can reach her by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or send him a message on LinkedIn.
What’s next and where you can continue to follow me
We will continue to regularly post content to Wit & Delight until the end of June. I’m going to dig into the archives and highlight some of the articles that have been most meaningful to me – and to you, the Wit & Delight community – over the past fourteen years.
We’ll be posting a few sponsored posts that I’m excited to share, both in June and throughout the summer. I will also sporadically share any design updates we bring to our house. The website will remain online this summer and beyond. I may pop up from time to time to share additional updates.
I will continue to publish my newsletter, Call home, at a regular rate. Please follow here for testing and design project updates. I will also continue to feature on Instagram whenever the mood takes me.
The Wit & Delight product lines will continue to be sold with our current stockists. We will continue to share updates, new product offerings and collaborations on Wit & Delight and our social channels.
If you wish to contact me in the future, my email will be the best place to reach me: email@example.com.
Thank you for being with me during such a transformative time.
I will see you soon.
