Richmond told CNN’s Jim Acosta: “Fin fact he is fake. Slavery had no redemption qualities. It further illustrates how this republican party and these candidates go to right and to satisfy and flatter extremists to obtain support. And I think the governor Desantis, his campaign was wade. He was looking for attention. And I think it is now undertake to go to as well as he can just to see if he can be the extremist candidate.”
The former Richmond rep later added, “I think Governor Desantis is going to keep running to extremists because he has no case to stand on and he’s going to keep pushing culture wars if not just outright racism in order to get a foothold and gain a foothold in the Republican primary. I think that’s, I hope Americans can see past it. And I don’t think you can say there were any redeeming qualities for enslave many. I don’t think you can hit the Vice President of the United States with such atrocity.
Accusing DeSantis of using racism to help his campaign is very strong language. However, it is also true. DeSantis is trying to use racism after his war on revival was a complete failure as a national presidential campaign issue. Ron DeSantis is losing the Republican primary to a guy who could end up being a convicted felon by Election Day 2024.

Governor DeSantis has a taste of life in the big political leagues, and so far he’s not holding up well.
