Although I love Starbucks Frappuccinos (who doesn’t?), I honestly think I’d rather make them at home. I don’t need to go on a special trip or even step out of my house.

Plus, I like that I can make any size I want and customize the flavors to my liking. So, I thought I’d share my Homemade Frappuccino recipe in case anyone else feels the same way.

Ingredients

  • Espresso (or strongly brewed coffee)
  • Ice
  • Milk (or your favorite milk substitute)
  • Sweetener – chocolate syrup, caramelchocolate chips, etc.
  • Whipped cream

How to make a Frappuccino

Prepare espresso or coffee.

In a blender, mix espresso or coffee, ice, milk and sweetener(s) of your choice. See recipe card below for exact measurements. Mix well until almost frothy.

Pour into a glass and garnish with whipped cream.

Home espresso machines

While you can use strong coffee in this recipe, if you want to make espresso, here are the home espresso makers we’ve tried and recommended:

  • Coffee automatic espresso machine – My current machine. It uses whole beans, so if you use high quality beans you will get high quality espresso. It brews espressos automatically (no barista skills required) and includes a milk frothing wand to heat and froth milk. We have used this machine almost every day since we got it seven months ago and we love it! It exists in three colors.
  • stovetop espresso – This is the cheapest way to make espresso at home. It’s more labor intensive and you’ll also need a way to grind your beans for best results. But, it’s a classic method that works great when done right.
  • Breville Barista Touche – We bought this for a good friend as a wedding gift once and they said they loved it. It’s a high-end machine that you’ll need barista skills for, but it’s a great home espresso maker.
  • Vertuo Nespresso – For those who want an espresso machine that uses pods, this is my favorite. Depending on the pod you use, it can make espresso or coffee.
