Paris Saint-Germain have allowed Saudi club Al Hilal to speak to Kylian Mbappe after submitting a record bid of 300 million euros ($333 million), a source familiar with the negotiations told AFP on Monday.

The Riyadh-based club have made a formal offer by letter, the source said, but such a transfer could only be completed with the agreement of Mbappe who has never expressed interest in joining the growing Saudi league.

“The club allowed Al Hilal to speak with Mbappe. This is the letter’s request and it has been granted,” the source said.

Mbappe still has a year left on his contract with PSG, who want him to leave now rather than for nothing next summer.

But Mbappe, 24, is refusing to sign a new contract and the French champions believe he has already agreed a deal to join Real Madrid next year.

The source says Real Madrid are among a group of clubs who have also shown interest in Mbappe.

“In the group so far that have shown interest, there’s Manchester United, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Tottenham and obviously the Saudi club and Real Madrid,” the source said.
