MANILA, Philippines—Tots Carlos is thrilled to play again with three-time Premier Volleyball League Most Valuable Player Alyssa Valdez as she returns to her original position as the opposing forward in the 2023 Conference Invitational. .
In Valdez’s first PVL game since injuring his right knee in December, Carlos notched 24 points in his comfort zone as Creamline swept the new-look Chery Tiggo, 25-22, 25-22, 25-17, for its first win in Pool A. Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
“I’m so happy because it’s been my position for a long time and it’s what the team needs right now as Ate Ly is back. I felt more comfortable with my position right now” , Carlos said in Filipino after giving up 21 kills and three blocks in addition to nine recoveries.

The former University of the Philippines star was happy for his veteran teammate, whose presence was still strong in the first conference despite his recovery.

Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses marveled at Carlos’ outburst of 24 points in just three sets, believing returning to her original position had inspired her.
“Toddlers woke up on the right side of the bed. In fact, last week she did well in training. and he went out tonight. It was great, 24 points in three sets. It was a lot. I think she’s happy to be back in her original position, that’s why she played it all,” he said in Filipino.
Despite a buoyant mid-season start for Creamline, Carlos will be hoping to remedy their shortcomings when they look to claim their second Pool A win against debutants Gerflor Defenders on Thursday at 1.30pm.
“We are still fine-tuning the team system. We avoid small ball errors because we are already intact and the chemistry is already there, so we have to avoid those minor errors,” she said.
