MANILA, Philippines — Bernadeth Pons has admitted she is still adjusting to indoor volleyball after playing her first two games for Creamline at the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference.
Pons scored his first four points in the professional ranks by assisting Creamline defeats Gerflor, 25-18, 25-11, 25-12, to go undefeated in two games in Pool A on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
“I’m still working on my transition from the beach to the inside as well as adapting to Creamline’s system,” Pons said in Filipino after playing the last two sets of the match.
“I’m so happy because we won the game despite the slow start. We were able to recover right away. I am grateful for the confidence that my coaches give me because I am still struggling for my return to the gym”, she added.

The Far East University star admitted she is still adjusting to the pace of the game after spending the past four years as a full-time player for the Philippine women’s beach volleyball team, winning two bronze medals at the Southeast Asian Games with Sisi Rondina.
“When I came back, it was really a super fast game and it’s not so easy to understand and adapt. I continue to work every day, watching my team in training. My state of mind is to always be ready whenever my number is called,” she added.
Alyssa Valdez praised Pons, who brought a different energy and great work ethic to their team.
“She brings a different energy to the team and she’s really professional. He is the first person who will come to train to prepare. She will also be the last man out,” the Creamline captain said in Filipino. “She is a great role model not only for the young players but also for the seniors in the team. It’s always nice to have something that can change, we welcome change in our team, change is Pons, so welcome, Pons is beautiful in pink.
Pons will have more time to adjust as Creamline will have a 13-day break before their next game against PLDT on July 13 at Philsports Arena.
