Injuries and health problems can arise out of the blue. But how do you know which type of visit is best for you? We’ve created the following guide to help you determine which type of tour is best for each situation.
Virtual tours
If you have a cold or the flu, a virtual tour may be right for you. Talking to your doctor on your smartphone or computer means you can stay home and feel better while getting the care you need. Other conditions that can be treated via a virtual visit include:
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- Migraine
- sinus pain
- Stomach ache
- allergies
- Arthritis
- insect bites
- Nausea
- Small cuts or rashes
Meet in person
Your doctor is often the first person to contact for medical care and advice. Consult your doctor for:
- Annual wellness visits
- Routine screenings
- Pap smears
- Vaccination
- Sports physique
- Unusual body changes
- Persistent pain
- Chronic conditions
Your GP can also refer you to a specialist if needed. For same-day care during regular business hours, please call your doctor’s office before going to Emergency Care.
Urgent Care
Urgent care is for same-day treatment for medical conditions that cannot wait, but are not life-threatening. Some reasons to visit an urgent care department include:
- Eye infections
- Cuts and burns
- Earache
- UTI
- STI screening
- Muscle sprains or strains
- Minor sports injuries

Dial 9-1-1 in case of life-threatening injury or illness. Go to the nearest emergency room for any medical condition that needs immediate attention, including:
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe burns
- Poisoning
- Severe bleeding
- broken bones
- Seizures
- Fainting or fainting
