The inflation rate based on wholesale prices fell to (-) 4.12% in June due to lower prices for food, fuel and manufactured items.
Inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) in May was (-) 3.48%. In June of last year, it was 16.23%.
Food inflation fell to (-) 1.24% in June from (-) 1.59% in May, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement on Friday.
Inflation for the fuel and electricity basket decreased to (-) 12.63% in June, from (-) 9.17% in May.
In manufactured products, the inflation rate was (-) 2.71% during the month under review against (-) 2.97% in May.
The decrease in the inflation rate in June 2023 is mainly due to lower prices for mineral oils, foodstuffs, base metals, crude oil and natural gas and textiles, according to the release.
